il Giardino® Pecorino Romano Cheese

Dating back to the Roman Empire, Pecorino Romano Cheese is one of the world’s oldest cheeses. Pecorino Romano Cheese is Italy’s most prominent hard sheep’s milk cheese. It is made in Lazio, Tuscany, and Sardinia—where similar pastures and breeds of sheep ensure consistent flavor and quality. (Not surprisingly, its name is derived from the Italian word for “sheep’s milk”.) The il Giardino® Pecorino Romano Cheese is a piquant, hard, densely textured cheese with a pleasantly salty flavor. Strong and sharp, this cheese works best grated into tomato sauces, soups and salads or served with ripe pears and honey.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Grate into soups, salads and pasta with tomato sauces
  • Serve with ripe pears and honey
  • Slice and top toast along with fig jam and apple slices
